Colloidal Silver

If you own dogs, especially multiples or disabled dogs, you know accidents happen! We watch them all that we can but sometimes we just can't prevent the inevitable. Stevie is a literal energizer bunny right now, if he is moving, he is sprinting and he really has no other speed - he's 7 months old and full of hormones and puppy brain. Throw in blindness and you're surely going to have some accidents here and there!

Recently, we moved to a new yard that is HUGE and they have total free range of the whole thing aside from the fenced off pool area. There are bushes, there is rock work and many other things that are hazardous for blind dogs. Due to this, they usually are only out when I am with them to supervise but occasionally they end up on a solo trip out to the yard.

The other day he came trotting back to the front porch and had a wound on the side of his face. It was just superficial and he paid no mind to it, but I wasn't out there so I am not sure how exactly he did it! Likely bull-in-china-shop-ing around the yard and ran into a stick on one of the bushes, but he and Ripley play rough and I definitely can't rule out Ripley's teeth! (no ill-intention they just play hard and lots of chewing on each other Lol)

Luckily, I had some Colloidal Silver Spray on hand in my dog first aid kit! Let's chat about why this is one of my go-to's when it comes to minor wounds and scrapes (and more!)

Colloidal silver is a natural health product that contains tons of tiny silver particles mixed in a liquid base. These particles are shown to be able to penetrate the body's cells and kill pathogens. The product can be used to treat a variety of conditions in both animals and humans due to its natural antibiotic, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties.

Research shows that Colloidal Silver can help in numerous ways such as

  • Kill bacteria and prevent infection

  • Control some fungi and yeasts, including ringworm

  • Manage skin inflammation, infections and rashes

  • Heal burn and wound infections

  • Fight eye infections like conjunctivitis and ear infections

  • Fight E coli and cholera bacteria

  • Manage sinus infections

It can be used topically for open wounds and skin infections like hot spots, cuts and burns. It will feel soothing while it helps to heal the skin by repairing any tissue damage and delivering a dose of natural antibiotics which prevents infection and speeds up healing time.

Colloidal silver is said to have broad antibacterial and antiseptic effects when taken orally or placed on a wound. It's unknown exactly how colloidal silver works. However, research suggests that it attaches to proteins on the cell walls of bacteria, damaging their cell membranes.

All these benefits make it a perfect addition to your dog pantry of first aid kit!
