Our New BFF, Rudy's Barkary!

My pack of 3 have been having one of the best few weeks of their lives as we have been trying out some new products that we are officially OBSESSED with!

I had the absolute pleasure of recently meeting Madison who owns RUDY'S BARKARY and her homemade and LOCAL to our beautiful BC Okanagan dog treats, chews and toppers are something your dog NEEDS to be experiencing!

Her products are great for dogs on ALL diets from complete raw to kibble, she has something for every dog and I am so impressed with the quality and care she puts into everything! She does all her hard work by hand in Salmon Arm, BC and her products are available in a few stores in and around the Okanagan already! You can also order direct from her website for added convenience.

Once my office space is open and running this year in Kamloops I will happily stocking Rudy's Barkary treats, chews and toppers for my wonderful clients so STAY TUNED!

I immediately knew that Madison and I had the same love and passion for providing dogs with nutritious and natural treats and chews and couldn't WAIT to try out her stuff!

You can take a deeper look into her and Rudy's story but as an introduction to why I love all things about them, here is a blurb from her website!

"We have the utmost respect for small scale family based Ranches, animal welfare and sustainable agricultural practices.
All of our treats and chews are made from local grass fed, pasture raised and well loved animals. By purchasing parts of the animal that might otherwise be going to waste, more of the animal gets utilized and reduces waste.
We purchase 100% of our ingredients from local Ranchers and pay them a fair price. Which means more money in the pockets of hard working families from parts that may have otherwise been thrown away.
By supporting local Ranchers that practice regenerative agriculture, prioritize animal welfare, conserve natural resources, and value biodiversity we are able to provide top of line treats and chews that won't be found in a commercial pet store. Plain and simple.
In other words, we give a sh*t about your dog"

Do I need to say more?!

Marley, Ripley and Steven were able to try and enjoy a variety of their GREAT snacks and wanted to highlight our favourites!

LOCAL GRASS FED BEEF LIVER

My crew enjoyed both plain liver and also some blueberry liver bark and both were an instant hit!

Beef liver is packed with essential vitamins and minerals like iron, Vit A and B12, zinc and contains high levels of essential fatty acids. All necessary for healthy blood and muscle function, eye and skin health, healthy brain and joint health and keeping your dogs immune system running smoothly. Liver also contains antioxidants that help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals!

LOCAL GRASS FED BEEF HEART

The heart is a muscle but it's also a nutrient rich organ meat for dogs! It is high in B-complex Vitamins, folate, iron, fatty acids and taurine. It has an added benefit of natural CoQ10, which helps boost your dog's energy, help the immune system, and fight free radicals that lead to health damage.

If you've followed me for a while, you may remember seeing me discuss CoQ10 before. It has been shown in studies to greatly reduce the incidence of heart disease and improve heart function and was an important staple for my boy Mayson when he was still with me.

Ripley, who is typically a very suspicious dog when it comes to new snack sampling but as you can see, I think my life was in danger with how much he loves these treats!

Not only are these treats great for at home rewarding and snacking, they are super easy and convenient to carry when out and about for an extremely high-value reward.

I broke them out for the very first time while on an off leash hike and Marley spent the rest of the time like this despite having endless space to run wild and free so I think that tells you her opinion right there!

LOCAL FREEZE DRIED GOAT MILK OR KEFIR DROPS/POWDERS

I've tried many fresh goat milk and kefir products for my crew but never have we had one that is as convenient to feed as this! The freeze dried drops make a fun colorful snack even while on the go but can also just be added to your dog's daily meals.

Raw goat's MILK is naturally full of probiotics to support and repair gut health and is beneficial for digestion, immune health while combating inflammation.

Goat milk KEFIR is all of the above with an added fermented kick that additionally helps increase nutrient absorption, control yeast ear/paw/skin infections, is considered to have natural antibiotic and antifungal properties and relives dogs that are a little extra gassy! BOTH goat's milk and kefir are great for dogs that suffer from allergy symptoms!

Rudy's Barkary offers a fun variety of these powders and each have their own special nutrient boost....

💚 SPIRULINA

  • Strengthens the immune system

  • Improve gastrointestinal health

  • Aid in detoxification

  • Reduce the rate of cancer

  • Help allergies

💙 BLUEBERRY 💜

  • Immune system boost through antioxidants

  • Improve cognitive function

  • Combat cancer

  • Support cardiovascular health

  • Decrease inflammation

❤️ CRANBERRY

  • Another great immune system boost through antioxidants but also contains Proanthocyanidins that protect your dog’s teeth by preventing plaque and tartar buildup and prevent bacteria from building up in the bladder which can greatly help dogs that suffer from urinary tract issues and infections!

  • Natural Quercetin contributes to preventing inflammation and helps control allergy symptoms

EGGSHELL POWDER

A great natural source of calcium, glucosamine, and chondroitin which can help support strong bones, teeth and joints in dogs.

EGG POWDER

I was super excited about this product and it did not disappoint! This egg powder offers a shelf stable alternative to offering raw/cooked eggs while keeping nearly 100% of it's original and natural nutritional content. Eggs are a great source of protein and are also packed with vitamins A and B, iron, folate, selenium, and amino and fatty acids.

Kibble Booster

(I don't feed any current dogs kibble but this product was still an amazing and healthy small yummy topper and even as a treat for my dogs!)

If you ARE a current kibble feeder, please don't overlook this one as it is an amazing way to incorporate a fresh source of vitamins, minerals and added benefits for your dog no matter what type of kibble you are feeding!

The meal booster is a gently dried mix of local grass fed beef organs consisting of liver, kidney and heart.

"Dehydrated organ meats contain dietary fiber that supports healthy digestion in dogs. This fiber helps regulate bowel movements and can alleviate common digestive issues, such as constipation or diarrhea! The fiber in organ meats can also support a balanced gut microbiome, which is crucial for proper digestion and nutrient absorption. A well-functioning digestive system ensures that your dog can efficiently absorb nutrients from their food, leading to better overall health!"

NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS OF ORGAN MEATS

All organ meats are high in amino acids (the building blocks of protein), they do vary in the amounts of other nutrients they contain but all are a great source of B vitamins – Vitamins B1, B2, B6, and B12 are found in high concentrations in heart, kidneys, and liver. The B vitamin complex is essential for digestion, cardiac health, metabolism, skin and coat health and brain function.

Fat-soluble vitamins – Most vitamins are water-soluble, meaning they’re flushed out in the urine, not stored in tissues. Just four vitamins—A, D, E, and K—are fat-soluble, meaning they’re stored in the fatty tissue. To that end, high-fat organ meats are an excellent source of these four vitamins which are critical for vision, immune system health, bone health, and much more.

Trace minerals – These include iron, zinc, selenium, copper, manganese, iodine, and others. Although the body only requires small amounts of these minerals, they’re essential to an incredible range of bodily functions, including wound healing, immune function, hormone regulation, protein synthesis, and nerve function. Lastly they contain more natural trace minerals such as iron, copper, zinc, and manganese than muscle tissue.

LOCAL GRASS FED PIG EARS

I am not a fan of the rock-hard molasses colored pig ears left for years on the shelf at the pet stores that look similar to a chunk cut out of an old woman's leather purse. I was thrilled when Madison let me know she was launching dried fresh and local pig ears that are still in their natural state (watch a behind the scenes of her cleaning process here!) including the FUR! That can be intimidating to a few but feeding hair like the ones left on pig ears is actually a good source of natural fiber!

Pig ears are incredibly easy to chew because they are softer cartilage, making them a good choice for senior dogs as an alternative to harder bully sticks. They also carry a high amount of glucosamine and chondroitin and these naturally-occurring compounds help to relieve osteoarthritis in dogs!

*Pig ears (and other similar types) can be high in fat and not suitable for EVERY dog. However, Rudy's Barkary also offers Lamb ears when available which is a great lower fat alternative for dogs that may suffer from pancreatitis!

Local, grass-fed family farm raised animals that are used for ALL of Rudy's products are nutritionally superior, with a better ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty and essential amino acids than factory farmed animals and should always be your choice when offering to your woofer.

Lastly, we love the

Butter me PUP

which is an amazing paw and nose salve made from locally sourced beeswax, organic and fair trade shea butter, coconut and olive oil, and Vit E oil for healthy maintenance or healing rough, dry and cracked noses, paws and elbows. Rip has some rough old man paw pads and this product has helped smooth them over so well!

Please check out all the great things Madison has to offer our great dog community, give her social medias a follow to be the first to know about her restocks and new products! Keep a watch on my pages for the announcement of my office opening later this spring in downtown Kamloops BC! ☺️🐾

Happy Wags!
